First Memories of SRPD

When I start my trip down memory lane, some of my first memories of SRPD are of the people. I guess that's the way it is for most of us since outstanding people made SRPD what it was, and still is - a great police department!

Here are some of the first people I remember meeting at SRPD.

John Riordan
Jim Carlton
Matt Conlin
Don Merkley
Bob Marvin
Tom Stevenson
Joe Brusatori
Jay Fletcher
Bart Stinson
Carl Selby
Bob Wade
Ron Averiette
Joe Leonard
Link Borba
Roy Hendricks
Phil Green

I remember them because they were the Officers, Sergeants and Lieutenants that I first met and rode with as a Reserve Officer with SRPD while on swing and grave yard shifts. They influenced me in the begining of my career with the department and helped me survive those early days of 1966 though 1968.

Who do you remember? Post your list by adding a comment to this posting.

You're right except I didn't work with any of them during my time as a reserve officer and 1st year on patrol where I worked 9 pm - 5 am.

I think most of the officers you listed worked days or swing shift.

I'll be posting SPRD rosters later. I have a couple showing our OSN (officer serial numbers) that will bring back lot's of memories!

  3. Gene I love this. Great job getting it started. I am trying my best to get the new kids to embrace our heritage. It's like herding cats.

Great suggestion. Which 3L12 are you? I can't tell from your blogger nick name.

I deleted 1 of your comments because it was a duplicate.
