Today is National Peace Officer Memorial Day. This day was established by an act of Congress. Ceremonies are being held at the American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida. The names of officers killed in the line of duty during the past calendar year are read by representatives of the participating organizations.
The California Peace Officer Memorial Ceremonies were held May 1 - 2, 2011 in Sacramento honoring 11 Officers who were killed in the line of duty during the past calendar year and recognizing Officers who were killed in previous years. If you've never visited the Memorial in Sacramento, stop by and take a few minutes to honor these brave Officers. It is a wonderful Memorial and it will bring tears to your eyes.
You can make a donation to this outstanding Memorial right from the website or you can make a donation directly when you file your California income tax forms each year.

While they are gone, they are not forgotten.
